I believe there is a process and procedure that needs to be placed into action in order to discipline, re-program, and prepare those with criminal minds to re-enter our society.

I’ve taken it upon myself as directed by God, to examine the structured formula that takes place inside many jail and prison systems during my times of incarceration. For many apostles and disciples endured the same and even worse during their missions for God. However, I decided that if i were to endure such trials, the best thing to do with my time is gain as much understanding as possible, that maybe one day I could help fulfill the will of God. It seems to me that on the inside, the primary focus is aimed towards keeping a balanced structure and keeping inmates fed and alive, before implementing the necessary procedures needed to identify the set problems that lead many into returning and remaining within this unresolved cycle. This is understandable from a mathematical standpoint, being that the ratio between inmates and detention officers seems to be quite unbalanced. However, not all jails and prisons have the same system, so be mindful that this is based on what I’ve seen for myself.

With the refusal of labor, or lack of forced labor, one is left without the structure of time management, labor education, daily routine or any structured balance to prepare them mentally or physically to go back into society. Not to discredit the hard workers and risk takers that do what they can with the resources given to them, but it seems that not enough force is applied in order to structure these capable individuals. The purpose of incarcerating criminals is to properly discipline them so that they may learn what they failed to learn or receive in their younger years.

For example, failed drug tests from inside institutions should result in more than simply relocation to different facilities or isolation lock-downs for certain periods of time. A failed UA should result in more time incarcerated and it would make sense to drug test more often. By approving this into the system, the answer to whether or not one is truly ever going to overcome the inability to reject drug use and inmates should be given a reason to want to eliminate this pattern of living. Although it would be hated by many, I believe many would be thankful in the long run. To save a life should be the #1 focus in our jail and prison systems. This example is only one of many.

Nonetheless, this is not one sided. It would be irresponsible for one to capitalize on an effect without a cause. A good question to ask is, is it irresponsible to educate young students & children with destructive information such as “the existence of drugs?” Should there be a restriction or a said rule that accompanies an agenda set to remove suffering from the future of the American People?

I remember when I was about 9 years old. I attended Belfort Academy in South East Houston, Texas. Sometime in the beginning of the school year, there was a gathering in the auditorium holding all Forth and Fifth Grade Students. Standing in the front of the crowd was a man wearing an all black T-Shirt with a “Lion” on it, and underneath the image read, D.A.R.E or Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The instructor gave an hour-long lecture on “Saying no to drugs.” At first and I’m sure to many, this didn’t and doesn’t seem like a bad form of education knowing that pre-education is a great form of putting precaution into action, but is it not the awareness of such an entity that creates the ability to decide or act upon that which results in the manifestation of this current disease? How can one see a color never seen? How can one describe a taste which he has not tasted? In the same way, we must remove even the opportunity of gaining such knowledge from future generations.
